Doctor by profession, Practicing at Malasai, renounced practice, established ‘The Divine Life Society’ 1930, Forest Academy 1948, born at Rishikesh. Authored over 200 books. Attained Mahasamadhi, Rishikesh – 1963.
PARAMAHAMSA SWAMI SATYANANDA SARASWATI– Born-Himalayan foothills 1923. Joined Guru Sw. Sivananda 1923. Founded Bihar School of Yoga (BSY) Munger, 1963, Sivananda Math and Yoga Research foundation (YRF), Munger –1984. Authored over 80 Books. Trained householders and sannyasins, India and abroad. Foremost authority and inspirer of modern yogic and Tantric renaissance.1988-renounced his mission, adopted Kshetra Sannyasa, now lives as a Paramahamsa Sannyasin.
PARAMAHAMSA SWAMI NIRANJANANADA SARASWATI-Born Rajnandgaon (M.P. INDIA) 1960, Joined BSY-1964, Took Sannyas-1971. Travelled across Europe, Australia, South/North America, established Ashrams- Appointed President BSY-1983. Guided growth of BSY, YRF, Sivananda Math for 19 yrs. Authored many books on Yoga, Tantra, Upanishads, organized world Yoga convention-1993. Founded Bihar Yoga Bharti (BYB), the first Yoga University in the World, Munger, Bihar –1994.
BIHAR SCHOOL OF YOGA (BSY)-A charitable and educational institution foundedby Paramahamsa Satyananda at Munger in 1963 to impart yogic training to all nationalities..
Focal point for a mass return to the ancient science of Yoga. The extended version of BSY was located on a hillock over looking Ganga and covering the complete hill where Manhabharatas hero Karna practiced charity. BSY accommodates hundreds of Indian and Foreign Sannyasis, disciples and devotees of Gurudev Satyanandji, practicing Sankaracharaya tradition in addition to teaching yogic sciences to the needy.
BIHAR YOGA BHARTI (BYB)– Bihar Yoga Bharati was founded by Paramahamsa Niranjanananda in 1994 as an educational and charitable institution for advanced studies in Yogic sciences. It is the culmination of the vision of Swami Sivananda Saraswati and Paramahamsa Satyananda.
Bihar Yoga Bharati is the first institute in the world of its kind to impart comprehensive yogic education with provisions to grant higher degrees in Yogic studies such as MA, MSc, M Phil, D Lit and Ph D to the students. Bihar Yoga Bharti has been accorded deemed status as a University by the University Grants Commission, Ministry of Education, New Delhi.
